About the event
Three days of commitment to maternal and child health in Mont-Ngafula II
For three consecutive days, the 1-Health Biomedical Research Institute (IRB 1-Health) successfully conducted a combined training, awareness, and screening campaign for mothers, children, and young people on sickle cell disease in the Mont-Ngafula II Health Zone , thanks to its state-of-the-art mobile laboratory . The activity took place at the Saint Jérôme Hospital Center , where numerous children, young people, and mothers benefited from free early screening for sickle cell disease , with the aim of combating the disease and promoting rapid and appropriate care.

Staff training and digitalization of medical monitoring
On this occasion, the medical and paramedical staff of the Saint Jérôme Hospital Center were trained in the use of the "Health Carology" intelligent database , developed and deployed by IRB 1-Health. This innovative digital tool centralizes the screening, monitoring, and personalized care of patients with sickle cell disease.
Thanks to its performance and accessibility, Health Carology has established itself as a national leader and is preparing to expand across the African continent as a benchmark in digital health applied to genetic diseases .
A mobile laboratory serving the most remote communities
IRB 1-Health's mobile laboratory has once again proven its effectiveness. Equipped with modern technologies (hematology, biochemistry, autonomous cold chain, connected database), it was rapidly deployed in the field , even in complex logistical conditions, demonstrating its ability to meet the needs of rural and remote populations .
A tangible impact and a national momentum underway
This campaign not only helped to strengthen local capacities and create a bridge between community health and technology , but also demonstrated that an integrated mobile-digital approach can transform the sickle cell screening landscape in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
