About the event

DRC Eureka, a non-profit association of a scientific, social, educational, humanitarian and apolitical nature, aims to promote/design, encourage and develop research in the field of human and animal health, all in a "One Health" approach. It is launching a project to screen for sickle cell disease in rural and remote areas, and to monitor patients suffering from this pathology.

The aim is to bring biological screening and monitoring techniques to patients and not for patients to be forced to travel to a health centre.

To meet this objective, DRC Eureka wants to acquire a mobile laboratory capable of carrying out various biological investigations in villages and remote areas to screen and diagnose sickle cell disease, carry out an assessment for appropriate care and ensure the follow-up of screened patients. This laboratory will play a key role in improving the early diagnosis of this disease among vulnerable populations.

This mobile biology laboratory must be an autonomous structure, particularly in terms of energy, transportable by land (pick-up), air and sea, and having the capacity to be deployed and operational in 30 to 45 minutes by 2 people. It thus optimizes the mobility and efficiency of teams operating in the field without compromising on the quality of the diagnosis.
